Workshop #1: Estimating Staffing Needs and Plans for Traffic Management
This workshop will identify and compile information and practices to assist agencies with finding opportunities that improve traffic management system (TMS) staffing need estimations and develop or update staffing plans. The expected outcomes from the workshop’s small breakout discussions will identify: 1) methods to quantify the workload for positions in a TMS, 2) processes and issues to consider with estimating TMS staffing needs, and 3) elements to consider including in a staffing plan to capture all of the TMS staffing and resource needs. This workshop will share information in support of the range of issues, practices, and resources agencies might use to estimate the workload for key positions in a TMS, all of the potential staffing and resource needs of the TMS, and what to consider including when developing or updating a TMS staffing plan.
